Casement vs Awning Truth Window

Casement and awning truth windows are very similar to one another as they both have cranks that open and close the window. The difference is that casement windows have hinges on the left or right side of the window, and the window opens up like a door. Casement windows are very common above kitchen sinks or in balconies as they let a breeze into your home and provide good security when on the ground floor. Awning windows, on the other hand, have hinges at the top of the window, so the window opens up horizontally. They are very common in walk-in closets and bathrooms as they allow light and wind inside while maintaining privacy. When choosing between a casement and awning window, the first step is to determine where you’ll be placing the window. 

Sliding Windows

Sliding windows are one of the most common types of truth windows which are installed in homes. They have two or three-panel configurations where one or more of the panes can be opened up. These panes can be slid horizontally to open up the window and allow fresh air inside the home. Sliding windows are very common as they take up a large surface area and bring in lots of natural light and great views of the outside. Sliding windows also don’t have many moving parts and require the least amount of maintenance of all the true windows. The individual parts of the window can be easily removed and replaced, which makes for simple cleaning and care. Sliding windows are a great option for living rooms and bedrooms. 

Double Hung Windows

Double-hung windows are the oldest type of truth window configurations and can easily be spotted in almost every home. Double-hung windows are vertically facing and have one or two sashes that slide open to let fresh air inside. Double-hung windows are a great option as they don’t take up a lot of surface area and can easily be placed in hallways and bedrooms. Similar to sliding windows, these windows have individual parts which can be removed, which makes them easy for maintenance and cleaning.
